Tucked within a liberal arts college in Northeast Los Angeles, the Moore Lab of Zoology is a hidden gem that houses over 65,000 bird and mammal specimens.
Discover local birds, morphological adaptations, rare extinct birds, a painstakingly-collected hummingbird collection, and see museum specimens that represent Mexico鈥檚 bird diversity prior to major habitat change.
Tours are free and intended for ages 10+.听For student group tours, contact us! If you cannot make the tour, we鈥檇 love for you to cancel your ticket in advance.

Parking & Directions
Allow time to find our lab. If you get lost, don鈥檛 fret, Moore Lab can be found on听听(GPS of the entrance is听34.126642, -118.210054) and visit听丑别谤别听to access a map of Occidental's campus. Your tour guide will meet you out front when the tour begins.
For weekday tours, street parking is available all along Campus Road. We鈥檙e closest to the college entrance near the听. From there it鈥檚 a five-minute walk: Head north on American Way, right on Weller Road, left on Bird Road and continue under the walkway to make a direct right up the hill.听For weekend tours, you may park in any campus parking lot.

Accessibility
The collection is located on the second floor and is elevator-accessible. Tours take place around collection cases and seating can be made available. Feel welcome to contact us before the tour for accommodations. There are two parking spaces reserved for disabled parking placards directly in front of the lab.
